Authors of "Naked into the Wilderness" coming to DT10
October 15, 2009, 7:36 pm

John and Geri McPherson, authors of “Naked into the Wilderness” and “Primitive Skills, applied and advanced” are coming to Dirttime 2010. We are pleased to have them come to our event.
Interest in outdoor living, self suffiency and primitive (Indian) skills, has been life long for both of them. John’s first “real” hands on practicing of primitive skills began in 1973 – motivated after reading OUTDOOR SURVIVAL SKILLS by Larry Dean Olson. Geri has been dabbling in “homesteading” skills (making soap & whatever) since the late ’60’s. They met and married in 1987.
For some time, much of the year was spent living out of a tipi – gypsy like – from one rendezvous to another – May till September – until the very late ’80’s when they switched audiences a bit and began teaching at more “primitive” gatherings and museums. Tho this cut back on their tipi Gypsy life a bit, they found themselves spending more time in the outdoors through the classes that they held.
You can find them at prairiewolf.net

Safety Takes Brains Self Defense… at DT10
October 6, 2009, 7:22 pm

Joshua Swanagon, Steve Tack and Lance Bobb have been trusted with continuing the woman’s self-defense program originated by their instructor Garner Train. All three have years of experience with Ving Tsun Kung Fu, Escrima, Hakkoryu JuJutsu, Hakko Denshin Ryu JuJutsu, Daitoryu AikiJuJutsu, Mugairyu (art of drawing the sword), Law enforcement DT, H2H combatives and self-defense, and each as experience with other disciplines personal to himself.
“We believe that self-defense is 90% awareness and 10% physical technique. We focus a lot of time in our seminars to
avoiding becoming a victim to begin with, but we also focus on effective, easy to learn, easy to do techniques to help you escape an attacker of any size. These techniques are tried and proven and have also accompanied DT
training in many Police departments and FBI offices in the United States (although they are not officially LE DT course techniques).”

Just added new sponsor for DT10 >>>>Ribzwear.com
October 5, 2009, 7:52 pm

RIBZ front pack is designed for the avid sportsman who needs his/her critical gear in a quick & ready location. Easily accessible from the front and designed to work with any traditional backpack or independently, RIBZ allows you to keep your essential gear in a fast and easy to reach location.
The Ribz front pack is an excellent option for those putting together an ultralight backpacking strategy. Their weight is under a pound, at 11 oz. Utilizing the 800 cubic inches of storage in the front pack can reduce the size of your backpack dramatically. Front packs move a portion of the weight forward, improving the balance of the load, and improving your posture and mobility. Four external zippered pockets, and four additional internal pockets provide plenty of storage options.
The shoulder straps of the RIBZ pack are extra-wide, heavy-duty nylon, designed to evenly distribute the weight, yet remain comfortable when wearing with an additional backpack. The back of the RIBZ pack consists of two adjustable velcro straps which will not bunch up or sag when wearing the RIBZ with backpack.
Whether backpacking or snowboarding, fishing or hunting, biking
or kayaking, or just out day hiking, we’re confiident once
you’ve used your RIBZ, you’ll never leave home without ‘em.
